Clingan Exposes LeMunyon Ties to Tea Party Allies
Del. Jim LeMunyon received a $50,000 loan from Middle Resolution PAC on Aug. 8, and Eric Clingan said constituents of the 67th District should be wary.
Clingan (D), who is challenging LeMunyon (R) for the delegate seat, said acceptance of the loan shows how out of touch LeMunyon is with Northern Virginians and the “moderate 67th District.” Instead, Clingan said, his opponent is serving the needs of tea party members in Richmond.
“If you’re going to represent tea party interests, and there may be tea party members in our district, it strikes me as odd that the delegate is taking roughly 50-something percent of his campaign donations from Richmond residents instead of campaign donations and support from district residents,” Clingan said.

For Saturday’s Kick-Off event, Clingan issued an open invitation to all residents of the 67th District. “I’ve knocked on over 4,000 doors since June 15,” Clingan said, “Now, I’m opening my door. I invite the voters to come out and hear why I am the right candidate who will fight for their needs in Richmond.”
Clingan also said, “I am especially proud to open my office in a central part of this district. Our community should have easy access to their leaders. As this district’s Delegate, I will serve the voters in the same way as I am running my campaign, with an open mind and open door for the people of the 67th.”
Delegate Chuck Caputo, will attend and formally endorse Clingan. Caputo represented the 67th District from 2005-2009. Clingan will make his signature speech to the voters regarding why he is the right candidate with the right experience and the right ideas to represent the voters of the 67th, which includes parts of Western Fairfax and Loudoun County.
Senators Chap Petersen, Dave Marsden and other local office holders and candidates are expected to be in attendance to show their support for Clingan, as well. Senator Petersen, elected in 2007, holds the Senate seat for Virginia’s 34th district. Clingan and Petersen share 4 precincts.

Clingan Campaign Posts Strong Fundraising Totals
CHANTILLY – Today, the Clingan for Delegate campaign announced that it had raised nearly $20,000 to unseat one-term Republican incumbent Jim LeMunyon.
Over seventy -five donors have now contributed various sums to Clingan’s campaign, from $5 to over $1,000 in only a two week period. Clingan’s fundraising represents approximately $2,000 raised per day. Clingan looks to be building momentum and reports hearing genuine dissatisfaction with LeMunyon’s close ties to Richmond lobbyists and their downstate agenda.
“I am honored and encouraged by the early support I’ve received, and by the positive reception I’ve found as I go door-to-door in our community. Clearly, voters in Northern Virginia are searching for stronger representation that remains focused on their needs. I look forward to a spirited debate on the issues that affect Northern Virginians every day.” Clingan said.
“Jim LeMunyon is one of the most vulnerable incumbents in Northern Virginia. The 67th District is one of our most important races and the House Democratic Caucus looks forward to Eric Clingan joining us in Richmond next January,” said House Democratic Caucus Chairman Ken Plum.
